The development of artificial materials with novel features has been a key to the spectacular technological advances of the last decades. With specific reference to electromagnetic applications, the possibility of obtaining new materials with prescribed anisotropy, dispersion and nonlinearity over a wide frequency band is of utmost importance and has been shown to deliver unique novel functionality such as invisibility and high gain and broadband performance.
This project aims to develop an automated design framework suitable for the design of metamaterials. Existing framework's modules based on Finite Element Analysis and topology optimization will be updated to address added functionality.
