Introduction - In response to the elevated earthquake risk in Turkey, especially in Istanbul, we are launching a project to create a mobile communication application. This application is designed to reduce and handle earthquake risks for the Sabanci University community, including staff, instructors, and students. Our focus encompasses three critical phases: pre-disaster, during the disaster, and post-disaster scenarios.
Objective - Our main objective is to develop a user-friendly mobile app that offers timely information, communication channels, and resources to improve earthquake preparedness, response, and recovery within the Sabanci University community. Additionally, we will research and develop sustainable communication methods to address potential electricity shortages and global internet connectivity issues.
Methodology - The project will commence with a thorough review of existing literature, where we will analyze emergency apps and earthquake preparedness strategies. Realistic earthquake scenarios will be simulated to assess the app's functionality under various earthquake-related conditions. Subsequently, we will proceed with the software development process.
This project's core mission is to provide Sabanci University with a technology-based solution, bolstering its ability to withstand earthquake risks and ensuring the safety of its community.
