Introduction - In response to the elevated earthquake risk in Turkey, especially in Istanbul, we have launched a project to develop communication modules without relying on any infrastructure. This project is designed to reduce and handle earthquake risks for the Sabanci University community, including staff, instructors, and students. Our focus encompasses two critical scenarios: earthquake drills and post-disaster search and rescue operations.
Objective - Our main objective is to develop a user-friendly mobile app and communication module that offers a connection between rescue teams on field and operation centers, and resources to allow search and rescue teams to achieve tactical structure triages faster.
Methodology - The project will commence with a thorough review of existing literature, where we will analyze emergency apps and earthquake preparedness strategies. Realistic earthquake scenarios will be simulated to assess the app's functionality under various earthquake-related conditions. Subsequently, we will proceed with the software development process and designing a communication module which can work in emergency situations to be fast and secure.
This project is under an umbrella project Seismicshield. The project's core mission is to provide Sabanci University with a technology-based solution, bolstering its ability to withstand earthquake risks and ensuring the safety of its community.
