Solving energy transition problems under uncertainty

Term:
2023-2024 Summer
Faculty Department of Project Supervisor:
Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
Number of Students:
2

In recent years, the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy technologies has accelerated. Although this transition might bring environmental and economic benefits, it requires a long-term strategic plan due to the large investment costs involved. In addition, the uncertainties in the technical and economic development of next generation clean energy technologies should be included in this plan. Within the scope of this project, we will examine the case studies of Mobility and Campus Applications.

Depending on the interest from the students, focus will be either on technology forecasting (using technoeconomic models), or optimization (using multistage stochastic programming).

Junior and senior students with a strong background either in data analysis and statistics, or operations research and computing will be considered only.
