Patient-specific implant design

Term:
2017-2018 Summer
Faculty Department of Project Supervisor:
Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
Number of Students:
4

In this project, the students are expected to design a virtual (computer model) patient-specific implant from MRI/CT data of a real person. To test the performance of the designed implants, it needs to be analyzed and optimized for better biological and mechanical properties . The required tasks are given below:
1. Develop a computer model of damaged tissue/organ from medical images,
2. Design a customized implant which will custom fit the damaged area,
3. Analyze the design based on bio-compatibility and mechanical stress,
4. Modify and optimize the design based on the results from the analysis in Step 3.
