This project studies the impact of Social Media on the dynamics of state-dissident interactions during civil conflicts. The students joining this project will assist with collecting, cleaning, and possibly analyzing data on social media accounts of political leaders and organizations as well as their online interactions. During this project, the students learn about the emerging literature on the nexus between conflict and social media. Also, they will be familiarized with the application of computational approaches and Artificial Intelligence such as data mining, machine learning, and text analysis in social sciences.
Programming skills in R/Python are not required but preferred.
