Codes are mathematical sturctures used in communication. Recently, code pairs with certain intersection properties have drawn attention due to their cryptographic applications in the context of, for instance, fault injection attacks. Linear Complementary Dual (LCD) codes and Linear Complementary Pair (LCP) of codes can be mentioned among such code pairs.
We will study such code pairs both theoretically and computationally in this project. Good linear algebra background is necessary to read relevant articles. Moreover, basic algebra knowledge will be assumed or the students should show willingness to learn elementary background, particularly on finite fields. Project will also involve computation using the software package Magma. Alternatively, students can write their own codes in a chosen language to carry out computations involving codes.
