Developing Astrophysical Data Management & Processing Tools

Our research focuses on identifying and analyzing short-lived astrophysical events, observed with NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope.  We will use a large database of an instrument (GBM) on board Fermi to search for transient events, and processing these data requires a lot of computing time.
In this project, the students will be learning and developing algorithms to efficiently managing the database, as well as learning introductory astrophysical data processing.  An experience with Python coding is required. Upon successful completion of the PURE project, the student may be considered for becoming a part of our TUBITAK funded project in the following semesters.
