In an increasingly dynamic business setting, the notion of resilience is central to understanding how employees successfully handle adversity. Yet, the factors which lead to its development, and how it influences organizational outcomes is unclear. In this study, we will address this issue by undertaking a critical review of research on resilience in the workplace. We will conduct a systematic bibliometric literature review of reviews, bboks, conceptual and empirical work on the antecedents and outcomes of resilience at the individual employee level. In doing so, we will highlight the various definitions, theoretical approaches, measurement approached and dimensions of workplace resilience, and development guidelines for future research.
