Microfluidic devices to mimic tumor microenvironment

Term:
2017-2018 Summer
Faculty Department of Project Supervisor:
Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
Number of Students:
2

The aim of the project is to develop microfluidic network that mimics tumor microenvironment. When our proposed artificial tumor microenvironment is obtained, the mechanisms that causes a healthy cell to be cancerous or different techniques those converts cancerous cells to healthy ones will be investigated. The project will provide varities of skills incluiding design of microfluidic chips, soft lithography, co-culture studies of different cancer-cell lines, fluorescent imaging and image processing. The learning objectives of the project presents interdisciplinary research with scientists from different backgrounds.
