4D Coaxial printing of composite structures

Term:
2022-2023 Fall
Faculty Department of Project Supervisor:
Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
Number of Students:
1

The objective of this project is  designing and producing 4D printed smart, load-bearing cellular composite structures with enhanced mechanical performance. 4D shape changing strucures will be manufactured using 3D printing/additive manufacturing and can be  programmed in the actual working condition. These active structures can recover their original shape at the application site even when they have experienced a permanent plastic deformation accumulated during usage.
The applicants will have an opportunity to work on exciting technologies such as 4D printing, computational modeling and analysis of 4D structures, shape memory materials  and composites.
