Side channels enable an attacker to infer information about a secret by measuring and analyzing the information unin- tentionally leaked by a computing system, such as execu- tion times and power consumption. Over the recent years, research on the side channel attacks has revealed numerous novel ways to exfiltrate secret information, which is other-wise proved to be challenging.
In this projects, the students will reproduce some of the state-of-the-art side-channel attacks, analyze the interworking of these attacks, and then apply them to new platforms and/or in new contexts to develop new types of attacks for the good, i.e., with the goal of demonstrating the information leakage in today's general purpose computing platforms.
