2D materials for electronics applications

Term:
2022-2023 Spring
Faculty Department of Project Supervisor:
Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
Number of Students:
4

As device dimensions get smaller, challenges related to the manufacturing processes limit the achievable device size. Two dimensional (2D) materials offer significant advantages over their bulk counterparts in overcoming these size related challenges.
In this project, students will design and manufacture 2D materials on various substrates, ranging from semiconductors to flexible plastics, that are used in electronic devices. They will be trained on the manufacturing processes and they will learn about the characterization methods. Eventually, they will be able to make a device, perform the electrical characterization and test its performance.
At the end of the project, they will have a better understanding of material structure - property relations and the effects on device performance.
