Carbon Nanofiber/Carbon Nanotube/Metal Hybrid Nanostructures for Lithium-ion Batteries

Three-dimensional nanofibrous carbon aerogels with intrinsic properties like lightweight, high surface area, high electrical conductivity and structural stability are attractive for a wide range of applications in the fields of catalyst supports, oil absorbers, elastic conductors, energy storage and conversion.

In this project, carbon nanofiber/carbon nanotube hybrid aerogels decorated with metal nanoparticles will be designed and fabricated. Then, their mechanical and electrical properties and performance in a lithium-ion cell will be investigated.
