We are conducting exciting research to understand how memory is formed and how the brain integrates different pieces of information! Episodic memory involves the unification of various elements such as people, places, and objects. As we perceive these distinct pieces, we bind them into a cohesive whole—a process that shapes both our perception and how we remember events.
But how does this binding process occur in the brain? To investigate this, we use EEG frequency tagging, which allows us to capture the communication between brain regions involved in binding by analyzing the interaction of different frequencies. Our research provides a unique opportunity for students interested in cognitive science, psychology, and neuroscience to gain hands-on research experience!
What is Expected?
Students are expected to contribute at least 6 hours per week to the research:
Approximately 4 hours for data collection,
30 minutes for the weekly project meeting,
1.5 hours for reading and data analysis.
How to apply:
Interested students should email cicek.guney1@sabanciuniv.edu with a brief description of their motivation for joining this project and their current level of research experience.
