The use of bee venom as an anti-acne skin treatment

Students will test the effects of bee venom on the bacteria that causes skin acne using a mouse cell line. Both raw purified bee venom and the major peptide found in bee venom will be tested to help determine which active ingredient in bee venom is the most effective in reducing inflammation in the cel line and killing the acne bacteria.
Desired skill sets include:
Cell culture experience
Bacteria culturing experience
*Note: this project will be conducted in person on campus.
