Detection of cancer biomarkers at very low concentrations is crucial for early detection and effective treatment of certain cancer types. Biosensors are widely used for this purpose, however, the detection limits are still higher than those required for early detection. Furthermore, the biosensors that are highly sensitive require tedious fabrication processes and are costly. In this project, we will design and fabricate highly sensitive and selective biosensors using functional polymeric nanostructures as probes.
The project will consist of two parts; the fabrication of functional nanostructures and the assembly of sensor circuitry and electrical measurements. Students from different backgrounds, including MAT, ME, EE and BIO will collaborate in this project.
